Goodwin Weber PLLC attorney attends the Hague Academy of International Law

Goodwin Weber PLLC Attorney Dominic S. DePersis has returned from study of Public International Law at the Hague Academy of International Law.  Mr. DePersis attended the Hague Academy during July 2013.  Mr. DePersis attended the Academy at the Peace Palace, The Hague, Netherlands.  Since its creation in 1923 with funding received from the Carnegie Foundation, the Hague Academy of International Law has occupied premises at the Peace Palace, alongside the highest judicial institutions such as the International Court of Justice and the Bureau of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.  It is a center for research and teaching in public and private international law, with the aim of further scientific and advanced studies of the legal aspects of international relations.

According to the Academy, thousands of students have attended the summer courses, including Mr. DePersis. These students have come from all over the world, representing between sixty and eighty nationalities each year, and many of whom have subsequently become well-known in the academic world, in research, or in diplomacy.  Students thus have the opportunity to meet “great names” of international law and to attend courses of a very high level. The summer courses also provide an opportunity to have contacts with the International Court of Justice, the international criminal courts, the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal, the Bureau of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Conference on Private International Law, and other institutions.

Mr. DePersis is a confidential global legal advisor to individuals, businesses, financiers, and elected officials, facilitating and negotiating matters worldwide.  He has experience in ensuring the legality of commercial transactions, advising corporations on their legal rights and duties, including the duties and responsibilities of corporate officers.  He has managed matters in healthcare, government, higher education, food and beverage, banking, credit unions, construction, entertainment, and energy.  He has handled matters as diverse as power plant purchase and sale agreements, energy contracts, joint ventures, project finance and development agreements, oil and gas, and art matters that integrate a variety of legal theories.  In doing this work he has developed a broad network of colleagues around the world.  His work has taken him to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kyiv, Almaty, Kaohsiung, New York, Bogotá, and Buenos Aires.
